David’s mother, Augustina Rome, was so grateful for the visit she asked Santa to hold her newborn, a gesture he said he appreciated.
“It’s a special way to celebrate your new baby, to have Santa come to the hospital,” said Dawn French, vice president of marketing and community outreach at White Plains Hospital. “Not everyone gets that.”
This particular Santa Claus lives in western Nebraska and has visited children at the Galleria mall for the past 17 years. Each year he arrives the first week of November to hear what children want for Christmas. This year, he said, the most sought-after gift for boys is Legos. Santa will be on the third floor of the Galleria during hours of operation until Christmas Eve.
“A lot of Santas want to depart Christmas Eve, but he sees every last person that wants to see him on Christmas Eve,” said Paula Kelliher, director of mall marketing for Simon Malls.
