WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Westchester Jewish Community Services' Center Lane Program will hold its annual Gay Prom June 21 to celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month.
“We are very pleased about how our Center Lane program is addressing many of the key issues affecting this population,” James Stewart, WJCS Center Lane program coordinator, said in a press release. “And, we’re committed to working with families, schools and the community-at-large to promote a community culture that is supportive of LGBTQ youth.”
Center Lane, which recently expanded to facilities in White Plains and Yonkers, will mark 18 years since the group founded a safe haven for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning adolescents.
The agency has helped many Westchester schools establish a Gay-Straight Alliance group for students. Center Lane worked with students from the Ossining, Pleasantville, Irvington, Dobbs Ferry, Harrison and White Plains school districts this past academic year.
