According to White Plains resident Dalia Strum, a professor at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, expect the "safe" LBD (little black dress) along with the usual glitz, glam and sparkle.
"The recent release of 'Cinderella' is going to be a strong point of inspiration for a majority of the red carpet outfits," she predicts. "A major theme is going to be ultra-feminine, an assortment of embellishments and florals along with pastel colors and splashes of white to welcome spring."
As for jewelry? Focals will include statement earrings, rings and ear cuffs.
Also expect a staple of designer dresses including Dior, Valentino and Carolina Herrera along with newer designers such as Prabal Gurung and Opening Ceremony.
"I wonder if it's too early to expect any designs from Peter Coppings for Oscar de la Renta as his new creative director," she says.
As someone who specializes in social media, she strongly encourages hosting a Twitter party to not only dish on the fashions but on the winners and losers.
"Set up a co-watching approach, pick up some wine and desserts and enjoy," she adds. Follow her at @daliastrum on Twitter.
The Academy Awards are on ABC on Sunday, Feb. 22, starting at 7 p.m.
