What's Going on in White Plains This Weekend

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- If you are looking to stay local on this Super Bowl weekend, there is plenty to do in and around White Plains.

• Georgetta Morque, a fitness trainer, will discuss heart-healthy foods, meal tips, and cardiovascular help with the Westchester Mall walking group this Friday. Parking and admission are free to those who sign up by calling (914) 864-7077. Walkers will gather at the horse fountain near the Crate & Barrel on the second floor at 9 a.m.
•  The White Plains High School will perform the "Sound of Music" in the high school auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Entrance to the 550 North St. auditorium costs $15 or $5 for students, staff and seniors. Call (914) 422-2234 to make reservations. 
• Archbishop Stepinac High School will host an open house for parents and seventh and eighth graders from Westchester and the Bronx interested in learning more about the 950 Mamaroneck Ave. school. School officials will greet attendees. Current students will then provide separate tours for prospective students and parents. Teachers, coaches, and students will offer information on various courses, sports, clubs, and other school activities in the gym. The open house will last from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
• The White Plains Library will hold a free practice SAT test from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Teens should register ahead of time by calling (914) 622-1473.
• The library invites parents and children to play with its dinosaurs collection in the Trove from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
• ArtsWestchester will kick off its third annual New Urban Jazz series with a performance by the Hiroshi Yamazaki Quartet Saturday. Yamazaki, a pianist and jazz teacher at the Music Conservatory of Westchester, will play original compositions and other jazz pieces beginning at 8 p.m. Admission is $20 or $15 for seniors and members.

- The library's The Trove is hosting a family "Alphabet Soup" story time for 3-year-olds and up this Sunday. The event also includes a related craft. Tickets to the 2 p.m. reading will be given out at 1:30 p.m.

- The Annual Camp Fair will bring more than 50 day and sleep-away camps to the Crowne Plaza Hotel Sunday to discuss programs for children and teens. In addition to speaking with camp directors, parents will have an opportunity to participate in two seminars this year, "Selecting a Sleep Away Camp - Panel Discussion" and "How to Choose the Right Camp for Your Child." The event will last from noon to 3 p.m.
