Westchester HS Senior Raffaela Cicchetti Wins Vocal Competition

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Eastchester High School senior Raffaela Cicchetti recently won the grand prize of $12,000 in the William Haralson Vocal Competition at Performers Career Center in Manhattan.

Cicchetti competed in the Scholarship Division, which consists of current students and emerging professionals between the ages of 13 and 50. The competition took place over the course of four days. She is the first competitor in the 12-year history of the event to receive a perfect score and the first to ever win under the age of 20. She will use the prize winnings to further her vocal training.

Larry Ellis (Math Department chair, teacher and PTA teacher liaison) is the recipient of the Westchester/East Putnam Regional PTA's “Our Strength in Your Service Award.” The award recognizes the work, advocacy and efforts of individuals that support the children and school within the community.

The award also honors the overall purpose of the PTA, which is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families, teachers and the community to advocate for all the children.
