The daughter of Holocaust survivor Leon Lewis, Kaplan is an active member of the Center’s Generations Forward Speakers’ Bureau.

Kaplan, a former public relations executive, serves her community in a number of volunteer capacities, including the Board of Trustees of the Larchmont Temple and a docent for children grades one to three for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

“Barbara Lewis Kaplan is already playing an important role for the Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center (HHREC) as an active contributor to Generations Forward,” said Valerie M. O’Keeffe, board chair. “As a Board Member, we look forward to tapping her experience in public relations and as a community volunteer who works with younger children to further our mission as an educational resource.”

The mission of the Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center (HHREC) is to enhance the teaching and learning of the lessons of the Holocaust and the right of all people to be treated with dignity and respect. The Center helps schools fulfill the New York State mandate that the Holocaust and other human rights abuses be included in their curriculum.
