Harrison Continues To Be Ranked A 'Community Of Distinction'

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Recently, I was informed that Westchester Magazine will be featuring a story about a recent report that ranked Harrison as one of the top 10 towns in New York to start a business.

This is great news as I have spent the past few years helping a variety of new businesses re-purpose some of the older facilities on the Platinum Mile in Harrison. Memorial Sloan Kettering, WESTMED Medical Group and Lifetime Fitness are among several new organizations that have been developed in our municipality.

Last week, a letter was mailed to all residents, who live in the residential parking district near the Metro North Railroad Station, to provide information on Harrison’s new Residential Parking System. Permits will be issued, beginning on Aug. 3, 2015, and will be in effect on weekdays, from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.

For additional information, including qualifications, extended hours at the Town Clerk’s office and a copy of Chapter 193 entitled, “Residential Parking System in the Town of Harrison”, please visit the town web site at www.harrison-ny.gov.

Recently, the 2015 New York District 20 Tournament was held and Harrison’s 12-year-old girls Little League Softball Team made it into the finals, losing to Eastchester in the final round. The 12-year-old boys Little League Baseball Team made a strong showing but was defeated by the Rye team.

I am very happy to see that our 14/13 year old Boys Junior Team represented Harrison in this year’s Tournament. The 10/9 year old Boys Baseball Team was victorious in the District 20 championship game and is now entering the Section IV Tournament.

Congratulations are also in order for Harrison’s Pet Rescue. Last Sunday, the organization celebrated their one year anniversary, in their new home, on Harrison Avenue. It was wonderful to be part of this great event and to learn more about the important work they’re doing to enrich the lives of animals.

The Harrison Recreation Department is currently taking applications for August camps and activities. Please be aware that parent’s must have a current 2015 ID card to register children for all programs. For additional information, visit www.harrison-ny.gov.
