WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Lifelong White Plains resident, Florence E. Marano, died Feb. 29 at the age of 88.
The daughter of the late Samuel D. and Katherine Marano, she suffered polio as a child but managed to graduate from White Plains High School. During World War II, Marano served as a production manager at Sonotone and as a statistical typist at United Nuclear.
Marano later worked as a clerk for the City of White Plains before retiring as a comptroller's assistant in the Westchester County Budget Office.
She is survived by her niece Paula Macy of Blackstone, Mass. and her nephews Samuel Marano of Acord, N.Y. and Marc Resigno of White Plains.
Visitation hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. A funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday ay Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains, followed by interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in White Plains.
