Family Financial Woes Created Investor

Brian Jackson found his way to the finance industry after watching members of his own family mismanage their finances. As the White Plains Branch Assistant Manager for David Lerner Associates, he hopes he can help others avoid those mistakes.

“Watching some poor financial management in my family really opened my eyes up to what sensible investments were,” said Jackson. That's why David Lerner’s investment philosophy appealed to him.

Part of the problem with proper investment management for most people is a lack of proper education, Jackson says. People aren’t taught how to invest, or manage their finances. “Balance a checkbook? That just does not happen anymore,” he said.

Jackson has seen more attention and care taken toward investing since the financial crisis of 2008. He’s a big fan of the notion that as an investment firm, David Lerner Associates doesn’t run with the herd.

Most of all though, Jackson hopes to pass what he has learned about smart investing onto his two young daughters.

“I have a chance to pass on better financial skills to my daughters. My hope for them is they will be financially sensible at as young an age as possible,” he said, noting that for now they are still tackling the whole money concept.
