WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. Elizabeth "Betty" B. Simons, a lifelong resident of White Plains, died May 22, surrounded by family. She was 89.
Born Aug. 11, 1922, she was the daughter of John and Gertrude Bogart. Simons graduated from Grasslands School of Nursing and served as first lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II, when she met husband, William.
Simons is survived by four sons, William (Patricia) Simons, of White Plains, Robert (Barbara) Simons, of White Plains, Raymond (Janet McNicholas) Simons, of Chicago, Ill., and John (Mary) Simons, of Hamilton Square, N.J.; two daughters, Elizabeth Pertak, of White Plains, and Kathleen (Steven) Napolitano, of Wolcott, Conn.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1963 and she was also predeceased by a brother, John Bogart.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home in White Plains. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Bernard's Church in White Plains.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Covenant House .
