On Wednesday, Sept. 21, it will be hosting a "Cocktails for a Cause" fundraising event from 6-9 p.m. at Ron Blacks Beer Hall, 181 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains And in October will hold its first annual gala fundraiser.
The no-kill animal shelter opened at 100 South Warehouse Lane, the former site of Pets Alive Westchester, after Greenburgh formally transferred the property in March and handed its new owners the keys in June.
Celebrations included a doggie fashion show, vendors, food booths, and music. Dogs and cats strutted their stuff in a parade, had their portraits done, and even got readings from a pet psychic.
Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner was on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, after which guests were given a tour of the new facility.
According to a report by lohud.com, the renovated 46,000-square-foot facility can house 50 dogs and dozens of cats.
Jennifer Angelucci, Paws Crossed chef executive officer and president, told lohud.com Saturday that the shelter is hoping to raise about $1.5 million to fix structural issues at the shelter.
Angelucci said the shelter’s mission is saving cats and dogs and hopes to be a community resource for education, adoption and animal rehabilitation, lohud.com said.
The shelter is holding its first "Autumn Tails Gala" from 7-11 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 at the Renaissance Westchester Hotel in West Harrison.
It will feature silent and live auctions, music and dancing with a DJ, a cocktail hour and a three-course meal.
The guest speaker will be Michael Arms, a pioneer in the animal welfare industry.
Arms, president and chief executive officer of Helen Woodward Animal Shelter, a no-kill shelter in California, is also on Paws Crossed’s board of directors.
Tickets for the gala event are $175 per person and $1,500 for a table (10 guests).
