World Renowned Researcher Named CMO Of White Plains Rehab Hospital

After a comprehensive national search, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains has named Mooyeon Oh-Park its new senior vice president and chief medical officer.

Oh-Park of Tenafly, N.J. will oversee all clinical activities for the hospital and play a key role in strategic planning and alignment within the continuum of care provided by the Montefiore Health System.

Oh-Park comes to Burke from the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation and the Kessler Foundation where she was the director of geriatric rehabilitation and the research scientist.

She was also the vice chair of education at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. 

“I am excited to serve as the chief medical officer at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital," the physician said.

"The hospital has a longstanding national reputation for excellence in the field of rehabilitation medicine."

Oh-Park earned her medical degree from Seoul National University College of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea. She also holds a Master of Science in Clinical Research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.

She is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, electrodiagnosis/neuromuscular medicine, sports medicine and American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARMDS).

In her previous roles, Oh-Park was responsible for the development of high-quality care models for inpatient and outpatient settings as well as system integration of clinical practice, research and education.

Known internationally as a researcher in the field of aging and mobility, Oh-Park is the recipient of 14 teaching awards and serves in leadership roles on various professional associations and editorial boards including the American Journal of PM&R.

“One of my first priorities as president and CEO of Burke was to identify a chief medical officer to act as my partner in advancing Burke from a clinical perspective and as the centerpiece for rehabilitation within the Montefiore Health System and the community at large,” Burke President and CEO Jeffrey Menkes said. 

“We look forward to welcoming Dr. Oh-Park to the Burke team. Her clinical and administrative expertise will help keep Burke at the forefront of rehabilitative care in the Hudson Valley and beyond.”

Burke Rehabilitation Hospital is a not-for-profit, acute rehabilitation hospital in White Plains, N.Y.

Founded in 1915 through an endowment from philanthropist John Masterson Burke, it is the only hospital in Westchester County dedicated solely to adult rehabilitation medicine. 

As of 2016, the hospital is now a part of the Montefiore Health System, Inc. Burke offers both inpatient and outpatient programs for those who have experienced a disabling illness, traumatic injury or surgery.
