Across the country, excitement has been steadily building for the wide, public release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the seventh movie in the series and the first released since 2005.

The most recent Star Wars movie will introduce a third generation to the epic space saga, following the Original Trilogy (1977-1983) and Prequel Trilogy (1999-2005) chronicling the fall and rise of anti-hero Anakin Skywalker. It will be the first movie released by Disney, outside of the hands of creator George Lucas, who was at the helm of the previous six movies.

In White Plains, Star Wars fan Bill Gase, 29, said he has been a fan since his grandfather introduced him to “Star Wars: A New Hope,” as a child, and will be the first in line at midnight at Cinema de Lux.

“I’ve been amped to see this ever since they announced it in the first place, I think two years ago,” he said. “I’ve only gotten more excited the closer we get. It’s hard to believe we’re getting a new (Star Wars) movie again.”

While “The Force Awakens” will be released wide to the public beginning at midnight, some of the larger movie theaters in the region are hosting special advance screenings late on Thursday night.

Super Star Wars fans are warned that while costumes and lightsabers are appreciated at the theater, many are banning masks, faux blaster pistol props from previous films and face paint in light of recent terror attacks.

While tickets may be difficult to come by for the hotly anticipated films, select early screenings for Star Wars will begin airing to the public Thursday night.
