WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Forget about the cold with hot Cajun fare in honor of Fat Tuesday. For those not able to make it to Mardi Gras this year, there are plenty of places in Westchester to satisfy Southern cravings -- and bite into a small ray of New Orleans sunshine.

The Bayou Restaurant , Mount Vernon : This ode to the Crescent City is all about fun, good food and strong cocktails. On Fat Tuesday, CJ Chenier And The Red Hot Louisana Band will be playing amidst a prix fixe $65 dinner full of Cajun specials. Seatings are at 6 p.m , 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Can't make it on Tuesday? No worries.The Bayou lives and breathes N'awlins with Fat Tuesday promotions that extend all year in the form of all-you-can-eat specials, in addition to Wednesday VooDoo Nights with food and beverage discounts. Birdsall House , Peekskill: There's always something going on at this popular gastropub. Expect fried oysters, Cajun shrimp remoulade, smoked chicken and sausage gumbo, and Creole jambalaya along with a Hurricane cocktail. Rye Roadhouse , Rye: Relish all the Big Easy offers with free beads and cocktail specials including Hurricanes, fried oysters, smothererd pork chops, redfish, beignets, and king cake.
