GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The Greenburgh Public Library is introducing a new state-of-the-art audio induction loop to make it possible for those with hearing devices to hear events requiring public address systems.

The Greenburgh Public Library is the first in the county to receive a system of this kind, representatives said in a press release. On Thursday, April 24, Lisa LaRocca of News 12 Westchester will introduce the system to Hearing Loss Association of America members, library staff and select dignitaries including Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner, who will present a proclamation naming April 24, 2014 “Hearing Loss Association of America Day” in Greenburgh.

The installation of the looping system comes as a donation from the Westchester Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America’s 2013 Walk4Hearing, according to the release. The donation was roughly $5,000. The Walk4Hearing will be held on Saturday, May 17 at FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights.

The introduction of the new system is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Greenburgh Public Library at 300 E. Main St. in Elmsford.
