WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Check out The Daily Voice quote of the week to get you inspired.
“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” – Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), referring in that quote to the value of preparation, was the 16th President of the United States. He led the Union through the Civil War and pushed for the end of slavery with the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and the passage of the 13th amendment in 1865. He was assassinated by actor and Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth just six days after the Southern army surrendered at Appomatox, Va.
