WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Drew and Nikki Hahn, along with Gabrielle Taormina, will host a fundraiser for juvenile myositis Saturday at the Coliseum, 15 S. Broadway.

“I just want to feel better,” said the Hahn's 5-year-old daughter Addie. “I don’t want to go to the hospital any more, and I don’t want any more pokes [with chemotherapy drugs].”

Addie is asking White Plains to "Stand By" her as she battles the rare, life-threatening disease. Taormina's 17-year-old son, Russel, also is battling the disease.

Juvenile myositis causes the body's immune system to attack healthy tissues and cells, resulting in pain, weakness, disfigurement and the inability to walk. There is no cure for the condition, which can be fatal in severe cases. Approximately two to four children out of a million are diagnosed with the condition in the United States each year.

“If kids are treated early and aggressively, within four months of the onset of symptoms, they have a greater chance of going into remission within two years," said Nikki.

Proceeds from the benefit will go to help find better treatments and a cure. The fundraiser will feature food, beverages, a silent auction and raffle tickets to win a two-year lease on a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 Sedan.

Visit www.biddingforgood.com/curejm to purchase tickets, make a donation or bid in the silent auction.
