WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- ArtsWestchester CEO Janet Langsam jokingly called the April 24 ceremony awarding 32 grants to area artists and organizations a "breakfast of champions." And it was.

That's because the event, held in conjuction with the New York State Council on the  Arts, was a "Who's Who" of state and local officials including New York State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins –Democratic Conference Leader, New York State Assemblyman David Buchwald, New York State Assemblyman Steven Otis, New York State Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer, Deputy County Executive Kevin Plunkett, Executive Director of NYSCA Lisa Robb, New York State Assemblywoman Sandra Gale, New York State Assemblyman Tom Abinanti, and County Legislators Mary Jane Shimsky and Ben Boykin.

A total of 32 grants were awarded to artists and organizations that support projects throughout the county, including performing and visual arts, community festivals and educational programming.
