White Plains Library Offers StoryWalk Through March 15

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Children and families are invited to stroll throughout the pages of the “Little Melba and Her Big Trombone” at the White Plains Public Library.

The event will take place beginning Feb. 15 and continue through March 15. Guests can attend during normal library hours.

Melba Doretta Liston was the first woman trombonist to play during the 1940s, '50s, and '60s. “Little Melba and Her Big Trombone” written by Katheryn Russell-Brown, explores the life of Liston and how she taught herself to play the trombone.

The local StoryWalk project was created with the intention to get families involved in reading and the importance of literacy.
