White Plains Library Offers Several Adult Programs In August

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Computer help is among many of the adult programs that White Plains Library will be offering throughout August. 

TASC Tutoring: Get ready to take the TASC (formerly GED) in this drop-in class for adults, ages 16 and up. Space is limited. Mondays in August. 

Veterans Business Forum / Why, How and What to Start a Business” Veterans Business Forum: Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 1:30 p.m. 

Drop-In Computer Help: This drop-in time will cover everything from basic tasks such as setting up files in your computer and adding attachments to your emails to finding online forms and sharing your digital photos. Wednesdays in August at 10:15 a.m.

Poetry Slam and Open Mic / Our "1st Wednesday" series continues with Open Mic, SLAM competition and guest poet. To take part in the open mic or slam, register at 6:30 p.m. Slammers should bring one original poem of up to three minutes. Registration closes promptly at 7 p.m. Co-hosted by local poet and slammaster Eric ZORK Alan. Refreshments served. Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 6:30 p.m. 

International Film Festival / Each week over the summer films from around the world will be shown at 2 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug 7 – "Everybody’s Fine" ("Stanno Tutti Bene," Italy), Thursday, Aug 14 – "The Closet" (France), Thursday, Aug 21 – "Heaven" (German/Italy), Thursday, Aug 28 – "Instructions Not Included" (Mexico). Windows 8 Basics (Demo) / Demos are presentations led by library staff that use the Internet but don't require computers for attendees. Bring lunch; coffee and tea will be served. Monday, Aug. 11 at noon.
