WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Due to the Westchester Knicks scheduling, the Westchester Cat Show has been forced to move its show to new dates, Saturday, Nov. 15, and Sunday, Nov. 16.
The event will be held in the Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave.
Many felines in varying shapes, sizes and colors, representing many of the 55 purebred breeds recognized by The International Cat Association, will still find their way to the County Center.
With six judging rings and six different judges each day, they have the opportunity to garner many points in their quest to "supreme." Supreme grand champion is the highest honor awarded by TICA.
In addition to the competition for the purebred cats, there will also be the very popular Household Pet Competition, which receives the same high standard of judging as the purebred competitions. The only difference is that household pets are judged solely on looks and personality, not adherence to breed standards. All cats entered in the show, whether purebred or household pets, must be pre-registered.
Ada Nieves for Pets will present this year’s Feline Fashion Show with a presentation titled "Cat Walk Follies," putting a new twist on this crowd favorite whimsical showing of cats in costumes. Actress Malika Samuel will be the guest emcee, with her cat Ferrara as one of the feline models. Samuel was one of the stars of Nickelodeon’s popular "Nick Studio 10," and she has appeared in film, on stage and in many popular TV shows, including recently on “Chicago PD.” Fashion shows are 2 p.m. daily.
Other popular features of the Westchester Cat Show include the Meow Marketplace for holiday shopping, Ask the Vet booth and a demonstration of the TTouch gentle behavioral training method by Mindful Tails.
Tickets will be sold at the door for adults for $14, seniors for $12 and children (5-12) for $6.
