White Plains Hosts Annual Interreligious Prayer Service For Peace

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The 12th Annual Interreligious Prayer Service for Peace and Justice Celebrating World Interfaith will take place Sunday, Feb. 7 at the Community Unitarian Universalist Congregation in White Plains. 

Universal Prayers will be recited, including prayers from the following religious traditions: Hindu, Humanist, Buddhist, Jain, Muslim, Jewish, Sikh, Baha’i, Christian, Native American, Quaker and for the first time the Mormon tradition.

The service begins at 3 p.m. and was organized by Charles S. Chesnavage and participants of other religious traditions. The 12th annual Interreligious Prayer Service for Peace and Justice seeks to promote understanding and tolerance among all religious traditions and beliefs. 

Representatives of world religions will come together to recite prayers for peace and justice in recognition of the UN resolution proclaiming the first week of February World Interfaith Harmony Week.
