The dance will now take place at 7 p.m. on Feb. 5, featuring world-famous Alvin Ailey dancer Sarita Allen at the White Plains Performing Arts Center.

Allen’s dancing career has spanned more than four decades and taken her around the world, performing some of Ailey’s signature dances.

She has danced with former Ailey dancers from White Plains, such as Aubrey Lynch II, Director of Dance at the Harlem School of the Arts, and Marlene Furtick, former Director of the Westchester County Youth Bureau.

The Friends will also honor three community leaders at the event: Assistant District Attorney Susan Brownbill-Vega; El Centro Hispano board member and volunteer Millie Castro; and former White Plains Common Council President Dennis Power.

Other artists at the upcoming Benefit include the O’Rourke Irish Dancers; Meena Chen, performing a traditional Indian dance; and the Fusion dancers, a collaborative program between the Youth Bureau and the Steffi Nossen School of Dance.

General admission tickets for the event are $30 and $50. VIP tickets, which include a post- performance reception, are $125.

Tickets for Dancing to the Beat of Youth are on sale now at the WPPAC box office, online at Vendini.com and at the White Plains Youth Bureau.
