What's Happening In White Plains This Weekend

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - A performance based on "The Wizard of Oz," a panel discussion on the state of blacks and Latinos in Westchester County and "An Evening With Boston" are just a few of the events happening in White Plains this weekend.

Friday, July 20

Night Animals: 11 - 11:30 a.m. The White Plains Library's Fun With Toddler story time focuses on night animals this week. The program includes songs, games, activities and stories for children 20 to 29 months old with caregivers. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Trove @ the Movies: 3 to 4:45 p.m. The White Plains Library children’s room, known as the Trove, continues its Summer Film Festival with “The Muppets.” The 103-minute movie is rated PG for some mild rude humor. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

The WIZ: 8 p.m. Students from the White Plains Performing Arts Center Conservatory Theatre’s summer program will perform "The WIZ", an adaption of "The Wizard of Oz". Performances are Friday and Saturday and tickets cost $15. White Plains Performing Arts Center, 11 City Place.

Saturday, July 21

Civil Rights and Civil Wrongs: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The NAACP White Plains and Greenburgh and Black in Law Enforcement of America presents a panel discussion on the state of blacks and Latinos in Westchester County. Pizza & a Movie Saturdays: 2 to 4 p.m. Watch "Transformers", starring Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox. Pizza and refreshments will be served during the movie. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Sunday, July 22

Bicycle Sundays: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A section of the Bronx River Parkway is closed to cars for the exclusive use of bicyclists, joggers, walkers, scooters and strollers. The 13.1-mile round trip starts at the Westchester County Center in White Plains and goes south to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers. Participants can enter and exit through many different parts of the route.

An Evening With Boston: 7:30 p.m. Boston will perform at the Westchester County Center. The concert is part of Boston's 2012 tour, which began June 28 and concludes July 28. This is the second performance in the "Pepé Infiniti Concert Series." Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $49, $61, $81 and $111 at the County Center Box Office. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000.
