WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A concert for kids, a computer skills class and an opportunity to buy or refill your MetroCard outside the White Plains Galleria are a few of the events happening in White Plains this week.

Monday, Aug. 20

The Bierkos : 2 p.m.-3 p.m. The White Plains Library will host The Bierkos , a husband-and-wife duo who will present original songs about summer and children’s books. This program is for children in grades one through six. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Conservation Board : 8 p.m. The city’s conservation board will meet in the council chambers at City Hall at 255 Main St.

TROVE @ The Movies : 7 p.m.-8:45 p.m. The TROVE Summer Film Festival continues at the White Plains Library with the Disney-Pixar animated film “Cars 2.” The 106-minute movie is rated G. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Tuesday, Aug. 21

Westchester Historical Preservation Committee : 4 p.m. This committee will meet in the planning conference room on the fourth floor of the Westchester County office building at 148 Martine Ave.

Storybook Art : 4:30 p.m.-5 p.m. Donald Crews will introduce children in grades one through five to new art media by focusing on a picture book and the techniques its artist employs; the children will then create their own projects. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Planning Board : 7 p.m. The city’s Planning Board will meet in the council chambers of City Hall, 255 Main St.

Wednesday, Aug. 22

White Plains Farmers Market : 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The market is on Court Street between Martine Avenue and Main Street and will be open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesdays through Nov. 21.

Foreign Film Festival – “1981” : 2 p.m.–4 p.m. Filmmaker Ricardo Trogi recalls the events surrounding his family’s move to a new neighborhood when he was 11 years old and finding his first love. The 102-minute film is directed by Ricardo Trogi and is in French with subtitles. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Mouse and Window Skills : 7:30 p.m.–8 p.m. Learn how to use the computer mouse, including point and click, pull-down menus and scroll bars. Students will also learn basic Windows functions such as opening and closing programs, minimize/maximize and how to start a computer session at the Library. Thursday, Aug. 23

Metro Card Van : 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. MetroCards can be bought and refilled at the MetroCard Van , provided by the Westchester County Department of Transportation in conjunction with the MTA New York City Transit Authority . A Story From Puerto Rico : 4:30 p.m.-5 p.m. The White Plains Library K-2 Club for children in kindergarten through second grade will hold an afterschool story time, along with a craft and cookie snack. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.
