What To Do In White Plains This Weekend

UPDATE: The Friday performance of "The Color Purple" at the White Plains Performing Arts Center has been postponed. The shows on Saturday and Sunday are still taking place.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A production of “The Color Purple, an antiques show and an indoor farmers market are a few of the events happening in White Plains this weekend.

Friday

Google More: 10:15 to 11:45 a.m.  Are you familiar with Google’s search engine but want to learn about some of the special features in the “More” menu? This class will introduce you to features such as Translate, Books, Reader and Finance. Register online. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave. 

“The Color Purple”: 8 p.m. The White Plains Performing Arts Center will put on a production of “The Color Purple” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Buy tickets online, in person at the box office in the City Center, or by calling 914-328-1600. White Plains Performing Arts Center, 11 City Place. 

Saturday

White Plains Antiques Show: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A wide range of antiques, art and decorative accessories will be on display for this JMK show. There will also be an expert glass repair clinic by Paul Nulton. The show also runs Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave. 

Music Remix: 2:30 to 4 p.m. Participants will take workshops on hip-hop history, rap and production foundation, entrepreneurship and performance confidence. They will demonstrate what they have done in these workshops in a final presentation. Registration is required and can be done online. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Sunday

Indoor Farmer Market: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Buy a variety of food and products grown and produced by local farmers and vendors, including fresh produce, baked goods, cheeses, maple syrup and honey, jams, meats, pickles, soaps and candles. Green Golly Children’s Program: 2 to 3 p.m. Children ages 5 to 12 can participate in an interactive musical. Kids participate by telling their favorite jokes, sharing their biggest dreams and discovering what it takes to make those dreams come true through the telling of "Last Night I Dreamt I Ate a Giant Marshmallow and When I Woke Up My Pillow Was Gone!" White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.
