What To Do In White Plains This Weekend

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A baseball card show at the Westchester County Center, an exhibit of rare celebrity portraits, and library activities are a few of the events happening in White Plains this weekend. For more to do, visit our Events page.

Friday, Oct. 5

“The Fall Classic” Baseball Card Show: 2 to 8 p.m. This event costs $7 for adults while children under the age of 12 are free. It also takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave., White Plains.

Celebrities – We Remember Them Well: Noon to 5 p.m. ArtsWestchester is displaying 150 rare, vintage photos of iconic celebrities. Some of the last photos of John Lennon and Yoko Ono as a couple before Lennon’s death are featured. Other photos of artists, actors, politicians and authors — Marilyn Monroe, Louis Armstrong and President Barack Obama among them — will all be showcased. Gallery hours will be noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, through Nov. 10. ArtsWestchester’s The Art Exchange, 31 Mamaroneck Ave.

Saturday, Oct. 6

GED Class: 10 a.m. to noon. Students 16 years and older can prepare for the GED test in this White Plains Library class. Space is limited in the first-come, first-served class. Contact Kathy Degyansky at 914-422-6965 to sign up. 100 Martine Ave., White Plains.

Puzzle Days in The Trove: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parents and their kids can enjoy independent, creative playtime together with puzzles. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave., White Plains.

Financial Workshop: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids in grades 6 through 8 can learn the basics of how to handle finances and obtain a basic understanding of the stock and bond markets. Sunday, Oct. 7

"Maria Full of Grace": 2 to 4:30 p.m. As part of the Spanish and Hispanic Film Series, viewers will watch this movie about a pregnant 17-year-old Colombian girl who works as a drug transporter to support her family. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave., White Plains.

“The Pirates! Band of Misfits:” 2 to 3:30 p.m. This animated kids movie stars Hugh Grant and Selma Hayek. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave., White Plains.
