What To Do In White Plains This Week

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A food-and-coat drive, MetroCard van stops  and a holiday promotion at a women’s fitness and Pilates center are a few of the events happening in White Plains this week.

Monday, Dec. 17

Burk Food & Coat Drive: 8 a.m. Burke Rehabilitation Center will collect nonperishable foods and coats until the end of the year for the Food Bank of Westchester and New York Cares. Drop off food and coat donations at the lobby of the Wood Pavilion on the Burke Rehabilitation Center campus at 785 Mamaroneck Ave.

English Conversation Group: 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Adult learners speaking English as a second language can converse in small groups with a librarian facilitator. For more information, call 914-422-6980. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Conservation Board Meeting: 8 p.m. The White Plains Conservation Board will meet in the City Hall council chambers at 255 Main St.

Tuesday, Dec. 18

Moving to the Beat with Robert the Guitar Guy: 11 a.m.-11:45 a.m. Children ages 3 and up with a caregiver can enjoy songs and activities with Robert Markowitz. Tickets are distributed a half-hour before the start of program. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Planning Board: 7 p.m. The White Plains Planning Board will meet in the City Hall council chambers at 255 Main St. 

Wednesday, Dec. 19

MetroCard Van: 1:30 p.m. The MetroCard van will stop at the Bee-Line Bus trans-center on Water Street and S. Lexington Avenue. It will stop at the Galleria Mall at 1:30 p.m. 

Trove @ the Movies: 7 p.m.-8:45 p.m. Get in the holiday spirit with a showing of "The Polar Express." On Christmas Eve, a doubting boy boards a magical train that's headed to the North Pole and the home of Santa Claus in this film based on the classic story by Chris Van Allsburg. This 99-minute movie is rated PG. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Thursday, Dec. 20

K-2 Club – A Christmas Story: 4:30 p.m.- 5 p.m. Students in kindergarten through second grade will read a Christmas story, with a craft and cookie snack. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Lady of America Annual Holiday Party:  5 p.m.-9 p.m. Try Lady of America’s fitness and Pilates classes with no money down for its annual holiday open house. Free food and wine will be offered. Call 914-448-BODY(2639). Lady of America, 200 Hamilton Ave.
