Monday, Oct. 8 (Columbus Day)
All White Plains public schools and the White Plains Public Library will be closed in observance of the holiday.
Tuesday, Oct. 9
Board of Education Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The White Plains Board of Education will have its regular meeting at Education House, 5 Homeside Lane.

Apple Time: 10:30 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 2:30 p.m. The event for 4- to 5-year-olds will have story time and crafts. “Patriocracy: A Film About the Polarization of Politics”: 7 to 9:30 p.m. This free White Plains Library event is about the “widespread political dysfunction” in our nation. 100 Martine Ave.
Family Night Out: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Families can play "Guitar Hero" and "Dance Dance Revolution" on the Nintendo Wii or enjoy board games together at this White Plains Library event. 100 Martine Ave., White Plains.

Parent-Child Connection: 10 to 11:15 a.m. This event is for ages 1 through 3. The library will have experts to discuss nutrition, speech and language, plus child development and other topics.
