Hosted by the WESPAC Foundation, the next gathering at noon at the Fountain in downtown will be a peaceful rally and show of strength and resistance to the policies of hate and divisiveness, said Nada Khader of WESPAC.

Attendees are invited to bring signs (not on sticks please) and friends.

"Silence equals acceptance. Raise your voice with the community and show the world that we are a community of tolerance and acceptance," Khader said.

Speakers will include Shannon Wong, director of the Lower Hudson Valley Chapter of the New York Civil Liberties Union, and Janet Rolon, deputy executive director of the Community Resource Center.

WESPAC has been sponsoring social justice events in Westchester County since the 1970s.

"Part of our purpose is to reclaim our commons in an era of increasing privatization and shrinking of publicly accessible spaces, she added.

During last week's event, more than 150 people turned out to promote their wide-reaching causes ranging from affordable housing and making a living wage, to immigrant rights and holding police and government officials accountable.
