WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- There will be a variety of nature center events throughout Westchester County on Saturday, Oct. 11 and Sunday, Oct. 12. Saturday, Oct. 11:

The Big Sit – 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Help keep a tally of as many bird species as you can count in one day from a single position. Lenoir Preserve, 19 Dudley St., Yonkers – 914-968-5851.

Survive – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join the Trailside staff for the annual Alternate Reality Game for ages 10 to 12. Fee $25 includes craft materials, code sheets and survival rations; pre-registration required. Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Route 35 and 121 South, Cross River -- 914- 864-7322.
