Dobbs Ferry Set to Light Up the Downtown

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Dobbs Ferry holiday tradition of the downtown tree lighting will have an extra injection of festivities this year.

The ceremony will take place on Saturday afternoon, but the village will also be having a parade for the Dobbs Ferry High School football state champions prior to the lighting.  The parade is set to start at 4 p.m. in front of the Dobbs Ferry High School, head south on Broadway and then down Cedar to the corner of Main St.

At 5 p.m. the mayor and village officials will officially turn the tree lights on, which will be stationed at the corner of Main St. and Cedar St., along with the holiday lights throughout the downtown.

Local stores will have specials throughout the day to help residents celebrate the annual tradition as well.

“Dobbs Ferry’s local stores and businesses provide a great environment within which to do your holiday shopping, as well as get into the spirit of the season,” the village said in a press release.

Santa Claus will be on Cedar St. near Broadway at 3 p.m. for all the local kids looking to share their lists of presents. Carolers will be in the downtown as well starting at 3:30 p.m. and will meet at the tree for the lighting.

To top it off, the fire department is inviting everyone back to the firehouse on Main St. for hot chocolate and cider after the ceremony.

“This will be a fantastic community event to recognize the efforts of all the players, coaches, cheerleaders, and water boys,” said Dobbs Ferry Mayor Hartley Connett in a message to residents. “Come cheer the Eagles we are so proud of, support the downtown and kick-off the holiday season.”
