Symposium At Burke Rehab In Center In White Plains Helps Mark Anniversary

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Burke Rehabilitation Center in White Plains will host a symposium as part of its 100th anniversary celebration on Friday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct.10.

The Burke Centennial Neurorehabilitation Symposium: A Meeting of the Minds, Leading Rehabilitation Research into the Future, will focus on the mechanisms that underlie injuries and illnesses of the central nervous system and their treatment. George Yancopoulos, MD, Ph.D., President, Regeneron Laboratories and Chief Scientific Officer, will be the keynote speaker.

Burke will also host a lecture on The Evolving Role of Nursing, 1915-2015, on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Marie Spencer, Ph.D., RN, CRRN, the Chief Nursing Officer at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital will discuss the history of nursing in her talk, “The Evolving Role of Nursing: 1915-2015”

The lecture will take place starting at 4:30 p.m. in the main lobby of Wood Pavilion (building #7) at 785 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. Light refreshments will be served. Seating is limited, so RSVP by calling (914) 597-2848.
