Snow Way: White Plains Plows Ahead With 20th Annual St. Patrick's Parade

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Snow or shine, White Plains is forging ahead with its 20th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday.

The parade will kick off at noon on March 11 with Grand Marshal, Kevin J. Keane and his aides: Patricia Murray Dadario, Mary Ellen Dervin, Maryfaith Phelps Fortunate, Lt. William Blaine, Sean Casey Egan and Robert Alan O’Toole.

Keane was born in the Bronx and is a graduate of Archbishop Stepinac High School, where he continues to serve at chairman of the school's Board of Trustees.

John M. Martin, chairman of the White Plains St. Patrick’s Parade Committee, said it may be windy on Saturday but "we're full speed ahead" despite Friday's snowfall. More details about the parade can be found by clicking here.

"I suspect the groups will step lively tomorrow," Martin told Daily Voice.

Karen Pasquale, senior advisor to Mayor Tom Roach, said the city's Department of Public Works crews have a plan in place to ensure the parade route is clear for tomorrow. "We are also working. . . to contact business owners along the route in regard to sidewalk clearing," Pasquale said on Friday.

St. Patrick's Parade Day begins with a 9 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 920 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains. 

The parade steps off at noon on Mamaroneck Avenue and proceeds to City Hall on Main Street.

The Keane Family traces its roots to County Cork on Kevin's paternal side (Coughlin) and to County Clare on his maternal side (Crotty, Griffin). Kevin and his wife, Eileen O’Brien Keane, have been married for 30 years and have five children: Micaela, Kevin, Deirdre, Keira Lyn and Tommy. Over the years, the family has enjoyed many trips to Ireland.

Keane is the Managing Partner and a member of the Executive Committee of Harrison-based PKF O'Connor Davies, LLP, one of the largest accounting and consulting firms in the United States.

The installation of Keane as grand marshal and his aides took place on Feb. 22 at Vintage Bar & Restaurant, 171 Main St. in White Plains.

Keane received his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York and a Master of Business Administration degree from Pace University. He is a member of both the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Kevin serves on the boards and finance committees of John A. Coleman School of the Elizabeth Seaton Pediatric Center, Lititz Watch Technicum, Irish Arts Council, and is a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. He has been active in Our Lady of Sorrows basketball for over 25 years and currently serves as the chairman of the Board of Trustees for Archbishop Stepinac High School. In addition, Keane has previously served on the boards of Westchester Community College Foundation and Westchester Hills Golf Club. Kevin is also a director and founder of The Westchester Bank.
