Purchase's Manhattanville College Hosts Immigration Seminar

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Manhattanville College in Purchase is hosting a special seminar called "Identity, Citizenship, and Belonging: Immigration in a Changing World," sponsored by the The Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center.

Peter Nelson, director of Facing History and Ourselves, a nonprofit dedicated to combating bigotry, will lead the discussion along with David Levy.

The workshop will use Facing History’s resource "Race and Membership in American History: the Eugenics Movement" to reflect on the history of immigration in the early 20th century and discuss the contemporary realities of immigration.

It takes place in the Reid Castle at Manhattanville College, 2900 Purchase St. on Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m.

This seminar is recommended for sixth- 12th-grade U.S. history, world history or Hhistory elective teachers.

After this workshop, participants will be part of the Facing History Educator Network.
