Stamford Temple to Serve the Needy on Christmas

STAMFORD, Conn. — Members of Stamford’s Temple Sinai may not celebrate Christmas, but they'll be helping others celebrate the holiday by serving dinner at New Covenant House of Hospitality.

In addition to preparing and serving Christmas dinner to about 100 clients of the Stamford soup kitchen, the volunteers also send the clients home with care packages, a Temple e-mail said. The packages include new hats, gloves, scarves and other items people need to get through the winter.

The Temple Sinai volunteers are looking for donations of money and food. Needed food items include five cooked turkeys, eight precooked hams, eight pans of stuffing, seven pans of sweet potatoes, eight pans of macaroni and cheese, eight pans of green beans, gravy, cranberry sauce, butter, candy and drinks.
