Save A Life is a program designed to inform and empower high school students and adults to be community allies and first responders to support teens and families in crisis. National Keynote Speaker Kevin Hines, presented a message about empathy and the importance of mental wellness. The Courage to Speak Foundation and Ginger Katz followed up with a message to parents about the importance of open communication with teens about alcohol and drug use.
Save A Life also featured the premiere of “House Parties: Alcohol, Drugs and the Law” Public Service Announcement (PSA) which was locally produced and directed. The PSA was followed by a panel discussion of professionals in the medical, law enforcement, and social services fields.
"Events like this are truly a community effort, and we could not have produced an event like this without the help of our student and adult volunteers, the Yorktown Lions Club, our 11 Workshop Presenters, our 33 Community Informational Exhibitors and the amazing 16 local Yorktown restaurants that partnered with us to produce the delicious “Taste of Yorktown” which concluded our busy afternoon” stated Liz Talbert, Coalition Coordinator.
