A cardiologist heading to a convention shared a photo of the cockpit.

The Delta flight had left Salt Lake City. About 90 minutes into the flight, an announcement was made over the loudspeaker saying the plane would be diverting to Denver due to a cracked windshield, KUTV reports citing a passenger.

In a statement to the outlet, Delta said the emergency landing was made out of an abundance of caution.

"Our team worked quickly to accommodate customers on a new plane, and we sincerely apologize for the delay and inconvenience to their travel plans."

It was not immediately clear why the windshield cracked.
