Born in Newton, Wehrenberg lived in Hackettstown at the time of his death, his obituary says.
Wehrenberg attended West Morris Central High School and Hunterdon County Polytech, according to his Facebook page.
Meanwhile, Wehrenberg’s family now faces an “extremely difficult” financial burden, according to a GoFundMe launched for funeral expenses.
“…my son was ripped from me and from this earth,” reads a quote from Wehrenberg’s mother, Alisha, on the campaign.
“I think everyone would agree that mothers and sons have a special bond. But anyone that knows us, knows that Ty's and mine is extra special, extraordinary.”
The campaign had raised nearly $20,000 as of Tuesday, March 15.
“There are hundreds of times in his life that he has taken my breath away,” Alisha writes. “But this is the first time in my life that I have literally forgotten how to breathe. Please pray for me as I relearn how to breathe.”
In addition to his loving mother, Wehrenberg leaves behind his father, Michael; and two brothers, Brandon and Gavin Wehrenberg.
Services were held at Cochran Funeral Home on High Street in Hackettstown on Tuesday, March 8.
