At approximately 5 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, the Ramapo Police Department received a call at their 911 center reporting a serious motor vehicle accident involving multiple vehicles with injuries on Washington Avenue near Route 45 in the northeast portion of town.
According to police, several units were dispatched to the area, along with an ambulance and paramedics. Upon arrival, the accident could not be located, and several additional calls ensued between the emergency center and caller helped determine that the situation had been a malicious false report.
Officers and dispatchers investigated the incident further, which led them to a nearby address, where they located the caller, who was holding a beer in the hand. Police said that he immediately became physically aggressive with the officers and the suspect forced the responding officers to use a taser to help bring the situation under control.
The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation, police said. He was charged with falsely reporting an incident, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. His condition was not immediately available. He is due in court later this year
