Officers approached Emmanuel Atta of Irvington around 6:15 last night outside American Airlines Terminal 8 when he began flailing his arms, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Atta then pushed an officer into a parked car and to the ground before running, Pentangelo said.

Officers chased him down, but Atta then elbowed one of them in the face, he said.

The officer, who got Atta into handcuffs, was later treated for a facial injury, Pentangelo said.

Atta was charged with assault and resisting arrest. It also turned out he had an active arrest warrant out of Brooklyn, Pentangelo said.
