Israeli Journalist, Activist Speaks in White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Journalist and Israeli political activist Nirit Ben Ari will speak at the Mapleton Conference Center in White Plains on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. about the current state of Israel.

Ben Ari will address current political trends in Israel and the climate in the media, activist circles, and human rights organizations and will focus on the situation facing asylum seekers, the Bedouins of the Negev, and the Occupied Territories. There will be a question and answer session following the lecture. 

Ben Ari received her doctorate in political science from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and has taught in universities in New York and Israel. She worked at the news desk at Israel's Channel 10 and is a regular contributor to Haaretz newspaper. She has been a political activist for more a decade.
