No Charges For Driver, 73, Who Fatally Struck Woman, 77, Walking To Bridgewater Bus Stop: PD

Charges have yet to be filed against a 73-year-old driver who fatally struck a 77-year-old woman Sunday, Nov. 19 in Bridgewater Township, police said.

Maria Zuniga was crossing Union Avenue near Finderne Avenue at 9:55 a.m. attempting to reach a bus stop when she was struck by a 2015 Honda CRV driven by a 73-year-old Somerville man heading east, Bridgewater Police Officer Cole Taggert said.

Zuniga was transferred to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, Taggert said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed as of press time, Taggert said.
