Juan Hermida Munoz, of Milford, was arrested and charged last week with practicing unauthorized dentistry and practicing unauthorized medicine, Milford police said.

Investigators said Munoz rented a room in the rear of the Alternativa Convenience Store at 140 Main St., Suite 7, in Milford, where he performed examinations, tooth extractions, anesthetics, and cleanings. The store is three blocks away from the Milford Police Department.

It's unclear how long he allegedly ran the practice.

The owner of the store, who rented the space, Maria Guaman-Castro, is charged with conspiracy, the release said.

"This practice puts the lives of patients in danger by unsanctioned and unsanitary conditions in receiving medical treatments," Milford police said.
