Has Yorktown's Town Hall become a 'virtual casino'? With Election Day approaching, Yorktown's politicians have made plenty of promises of quick prosperity. You'll see lots more ribbon cuttings, slick conceptual renderings and high profile photo ops (flashing lights) featuring oversized Grant/Gas Pipe Line checks (clinking coins). Progress (the jackpot) is promised to come on an investment of only pennies on the dollar. Plenty of "free money" to go around but at what ultimate cost to taxpayers? We all know that there's no such thing as a 'free lunch" because of the inevitable but not so obvious attached strings and favors that need repayment. Yorktown Taxpayers may find out that just like slot machines you can always count on getting out much less than you put in.
It seems that Yorktown's politicians have been the only ones to hit their own million dollar jackpots from personal land development deals.
Gamblers call slot machines one-armed-bandits. What should voters call elected officials? Sadly, the only thing ringing in Yorktown's political future maybe alarm bells.
