The three-level facility will have 88 total units: a mix of 68 studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments with access to assisted services and 20 apartments designed for those seeking 24/7 access to memory and cognitive stimulation services.

Benchmark Senior Living is building the 85,000-square-foot assisted living and memory care community, which is located between The Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Hospital and Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

A gathering of town officials, community leaders, Benchmark associates and residents from neighboring Benchmark communities recently gathered to celebrate the building’s progress.

Benchmark, founded by Fairfield native Tom Grape, is a leading provider of senior living services in the Northeast. The property, at 400 Mill Plain Road, will be the first assisted living community in Fairfield and is slated for completion in September 2018.

“This project is very personal to me,” says Grape, Benchmark’s Chairman and CEO. “We are bringing the first assisted living community to the town where I was raised. Benchmark’s attention to quality and our commitment to creating meaningful connections will be extremely important to the fabric of this special community. Sturges Ridge of Fairfield will allow seniors requiring assistance as they age to stay in a town they love as much as I do, and they can even live next door to neighbors they’ve known for years.”

Additional features will include underground parking and a rooftop patio. Apartments on the top level will have “luxury box” views of Fairfield Ludlowe High School football games.

In October, Sturges Ridge of Fairfield will open an Information Center at 1177 Post Road in Fairfield where the public can view floor plans and room designs and submit applications and deposits.
