If you commute into the city: One-way commuter rail tickets would jack up the cost of a one-way rush-hour trip to New York’s Penn Station from $7.50 to about $9.35 from Ridgewood and from $5.75 to about $7.20 from Paterson.
The agency is planning to increase the cost of a one-zone local bus trip or one-way light-rail ticket on the Newark or River lines from $1.35 to $1.70, and on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail from $1.90 to $2.40 a trip, beginning May 1.
Not only that, you can expect to wait longer for more crowded trains and buses, under NJ Transit’s plan to cut 32 of 725 commuter trains, and pull back the number of trips on some 50 bus routes throughout the state.
