Suspect In Stamford Car Break-Ins Identified By Using Stolen Credit Cards

STAMFORD, Conn. — A 28-year-old New Haven man was arrested and a warrant was issued for a second suspect after an eight-month investigation into a spate of car break-ins in Stamford earlier this year, police said.

Trevor Dixon was charged with breaking into 15 unlocked cars from April to October in Stamford and stealing items, including cash, merchandise and credit cards that were used in New Haven County and Hartford County, Stamford police said.

Dixon was arraigned on Dec. 28 on a total of 89 charges, including burglary, larceny, theft of a credit card, illegal use of a credit card, and conspiracy. Dixon, who has been incarcerated on an unrelated charge, was held on $200,000 bond after appearing at Stamford Superior Court.

Stamford Police Officer Richard Pompa discovered that credit cards stolen during the car break-ins were being used at numerous stores throughout Connecticut, police said. Pompa acquired video of the suspects using the stolen credit cards and was able to identify two of the suspects. In addition to Dixon, the other suspect was identified as Dana Vincent, 39, of Windsor, police said.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Vincent, who remains at large and is wanted on similar charges. Stamford police are actively searching for Vincent.
