Pace Selects Two Athletes Of The Month

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University Athletic Department named two of its student-athletes as the Athletes of the Month of September.

David Lopez, a senior football player at Pace, earned two honors before the season even began. He made the 2012 USA Football News Division II Preseason All-American First Team and also made Second Team Defense in the 2012 D2 vs. NAIA Senior Bowl Preseason All-American Team.

Lopez has recorded 51 tackles this season, 23 of which were unassisted, which places him fourth in the Northeast-10 conference with fellow Setter Vincent Romano at 10.2 tackles per game.

The 5’11” defensive back also earned honor roll status from the conference in week five, when he recorded 11 tackles and recovered a fumble against American International College.

Jillian Ferro, a sophomore soccer player at Pace, has scored 10 goals and recorded an assist this season. She made the conference's weekly honor roll in weeks one and five. She scored two goals last week in Pace’s win against Bentley and netted the game-winning goal Sept. 22 against Saint Anselm.

In her freshman year, Ferro made the NSCAA All-East Region Third Team, NE-10 All-Conference Second Team and the NE-10 All-Rookie Team.
