Habitat For Humanity Marks New Rochelle Man's 100th Birthday

The event will kick off at noon at 659 Main St. in New Rochelle.

Moye was born in New Rochelle on March 26, 1915, and attended New Rochelle schools, leaving New Rochelle High School after his father’s death. He immediately went to work to help support his mother, who was just about in the middle of raising her nine children.

The few years Moye spent away from New Rochelle, he was proudly serving his country during four campaigns in World War II.

“We are honored and have helped Bill for a number of years, as we have a commitment to our senior veterans as well as our young veterans," said Jim Killoran, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Westchester. "Bill is a hero. Here’s to his next 100 years.”

Citations and donations are welcome at Saturday's event. All donations will go to Moye. The mayor, city legislator, local dignitaries and friends of Bill Moye will be in attendance.
